A read on the Chinese Zodiac -

The Zodiac in the Chinese tradition comes in six pairs, representing six reincarnation.  It also reflected the expectations from the ancestors.

The first group is Rat and Cow. Rat represents intelligence, and Cow represents hard work. Intelligence and hard work must be integrated tightly. If there is only intelligence, no diligence, it becomes a small smart, meanwhile hard work without using brains becomes foolishness.

The second group is Tiger and Rabbit. Tiger stands for bravery, while rabbit stands for cautiousness. Courage and prudence must also come together. If the brave comes with no caution, it becomes reckless, but without bravery, the cautious becomes timid.

The third group is Dragon and Snake. Dragon stands for fierceness, Snake stands for flexibility. Without flexibility, the fierce tends to break. On the other hand, the flexible without fierceness will become indecisive.

Next is Horse and Sheep. Horse represents the courage to go forward, Sheep stands for being accommodating. A person with courage but doesn't know how to accommodate will inevitably bump around and may not be able to achieve his goal. However, a person too accommodating may eventually lose his direction.

Next is Monkey and Rooster.  Monkey represents agility, Rooster represents stability because it sings the time every morning. Agility and stability must be combined. Without stability, agility can hardly carry through on anything. Meanwhile, stability without agility can make it hard for one to proceed in a changing environment.

Finally, Dog and Swine. Dog represents loyalty, Swine represents easygoingness. If a person is too loyal, not knowing how to be easygoing, he tends to exclude others. In turn, a person too easy-going, without loyalty can easily lose his principle. Only if loyalty is combined with easygoingness, can one's inner world be balanced.

There is always a Yin and a Yang to anything in this world and what we are doing is to learn how to balance them.  This is perhaps what our ancestors truly want to tell us.  😊
